Who can delete a Facebook Group?

Facebook's rules for deleting a group are fairly straightforward. A Group can be deleted only by its owner or by its admin.

Owner

   Group owners can delete their groups, but they can do so only after all other members have left. All members need to be removed from the Facebook Group first. After this has been completed, the group owner can delete the group by simply clicking the option to delete the group.

Admin

   Admin group members may only delete a group if all its members, including the original owner, have left. If the owner is still present in the group, admins can archive a group rather than delete it. 

An alternative to deletion is to archive the group, which prevents new members from joining the group and prevents it from appearing in the Facebook search function.

mobile app

Here are the steps to delete a group on Facebook.

1. Go to your iPhone or Android's Facebook app. Choose the "Menu" tab and then choose "Groups".

2. Click "See All" next to "Your Groups," then click "See All" again next to "Groups you Manage" to see all your groups.

3 Click the group that you want to delete.

4. Tap the name of the group, and then tap "See All" to view all of the members.

5. To remove a person from a group, tap their name and select "Remove Member".

6. Tap on your name after everyone has been removed from the group and select "Leave Group." Facebook will confirm that the group will be deleted once you exit the group.

7. Tap on "Leave and Delete".

1. Go to Facebook.com and click on "Groups" on the home page.

2. Click on the group that you wish to delete.

3. Go to "Members" on the left side of the page.

4. From the group menu, select Members.

5. Select "Remove from Group" next to each member's name, then click "Confirm".

6. Once all members are removed, select the "More" button next to your name.

7. Select "Leave Group" and then "Leave and Delete Group".
